Sci-High

Funded projects

Sci-High runs long-term projects together with partners in Bulgaria and across Europe.

Eco Champions

A funded project (€94,601) to train and support student teams working on environmental topics in their community.

About the project

“Eco Champions” was a funded Sci-High project supported by the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria programme. The project budget was €94,601.

Through this project we set up clubs in several Bulgarian cities working on concrete environmental issues — air pollution, waste, light pollution, noise pollution. The mentor team included university lecturers and industry experts.

What we achieved

  • Over 200 students directly involved in project work.
  • Training modules on the scientific method and project management.
  • Regional public presentations in three cities.
  • Team participation in the national science festival.

Outcome

A series of student projects that reached audiences in their communities and in the media. Several participants continued working on their topics into the following year.

STEM Lingua

A programme for developing students' language skills in a STEM context — in both Bulgarian and English.

About the project

“STEM Lingua” is a Sci-High programme that helps students present their scientific work well — in both Bulgarian and English. The goal is for language to be a tool, not a barrier, for young scientists.

What it includes

  • Mentor work on written and oral presentation.
  • Preparation for international presentations (including EuCYS, Super STEM Europe).
  • Short courses in terminology and technical English.
  • Support with poster and abstract preparation.

Why it matters

A great piece of research, presented poorly, does not reach the audience who could turn it into reality. STEM Lingua invests in students’ ability to talk about their work — to investors, universities and their own community.

Learning Together

A programme supporting school STEM clubs where students across grades work on shared projects.

About the project

“Learning Together” is a long-running Sci-High initiative supporting the creation of STEM clubs in schools across our network. The goal is for students from different grades to work together on projects that matter to their school and community.

What it includes

  • Training sessions for teacher-coordinators.
  • Ready-made learning modules on various topics (ecology, energy, materials, biology).
  • A platform for project registration and tracking.
  • Access to the mentor network.

Why it works

When older students mentor younger ones, both groups learn more. It turns school from a place of individual grades into a place of joint work.
